Phillip Martinez
Medical Staff - Paramedic

Phillip Martinez currently lives in Gilbert, Arizona and holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of Arizona.  He is a 12-year veteran Firefighter/Paramedic for the City of Chandler and is a Certified Peer-Fitness-Trainer for his fellow Firefighters and First Responders in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.  He is Arizona State Certified in Advanced Life Support, Hazardous Materials Technician, Technical Rescue Technician and CPR Instructor.  Phil’s motto is, “I love this job!”

Mr. Martinez has been in competitive bodybuilding and personal training for over 15 years.  He was first introduced to Stryker at Gold's gym by a fellow firefighter in 2008.  Stryker even had to give Phil a gym pass so he could workout.  "He was like a lost puppy!!" Stryker once stated.  One look from Stryker and he couldn't believe what he was looking at?!!  At first glimpse, Stryker learned Mr. Martinez was just a big Jokester and was impressed with his humble demeanor, but did not know of his potential as a competitive bodybuilder until he watched Phil lift some serious weight.  With a little guidance from Stryker....and a swift kick in the butt every time Phil lost focus, He went on to win the 2009 NPC Natural Western USA Overall Championship and was the 2010 NPC Arizona Heavyweight Champion the following year.  Stryker is currently training Phil to compete in the 2011 NPC Southern California Championship in San Diego and the 2011 World Police and Fire Games in New York City this year.

Working as a firefighter allows Phil to stay in shape and to meet the demands of the job which requires him to be more creative with his workouts.  It’s not just the normal grind to the gym to lift big weights anymore.  He is required to place his body through tremendous stress and various movements that utilizes muscles and the central nervous system that would never be utilized in the gym.  These “functional workouts” along with his normal bodybuilding workouts makes Phil one of the most efficient Occupational Athlete in the valley.
